Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free scores 100% in AV-TEST removal test!

July 30, 2014 | BY

UPDATE: Following this announcement last week, we have just been awarded AV-Test’s ‘Best Repair 2014’ Award.  Well done to everyone at Malwarebytes! More details here.

Original blog:

I just wanted to take a minute to brag quickly about our performance in today’s annual AV-TEST removal and repair endurance test.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Free is the only product, out of a total of 17 analyzed over a grueling 10-month long period, to achieve a perfect 100% score. We removed and repaired every single threat thrown at us.

AV-TEST created a variety of scenarios intended to simulate real user experiences between September 2013 and June 2014.  Malwarebytes was tested against 30 different pieces of the latest malware in two separate situations, and asked to rip them off a Windows 7 machine.

Not only did we do this every single time, we also completely disinfected each system, not even leaving harmless file remnants.

Needless to say I’m very pleased with the results. It is good to see our Free product performing so well in a rigorous test and it’s a testament to how great our research team really is.

As a security company we are heavily weighted towards R&D, which pays huge dividends in the effectiveness of our products. The people who endlessly pick apart frustrating malware and those who use this intel to help us build better products, are the ones who really won this perfect score. Thanks guys!

Full links to the results are here, and the comparative performance table is below.

I have Norton 360 and if it wasn’t for MalwareBytes, my box would have been infected countless times. Best virus killer ever.

My Malwarebytes keeps saying “Fix Now”, but the button doesn’t work and I am constantly having to uninstall and reinstall. Not worth the purchase price. I will probably go back to the free version.

    Hi
    And the detection test?

  • Le Me

Look at ‘Malware Not Detected’ on the table on the screenshot.

The fact that you take such pride in the free version is why I bought the premium. Too bad they didn’t test how Microsoft Security Essentials is performing under Windows 8.1 because I think a lot of us feel pretty safe with just MSE.

  • flyfire

That’s not surprising, malware bytes always be the best anti malware .
If you add an anti virus to malware bytes, you will ruin completely the other anti virus software ;)

  • George Melendez Correa

Great news…… but of course we’re talking about Malwarebytes…….

  • hans

I have Microsoft Security Essentials, but it doesn’t seem to do the trick as I have a lot of pop ups that I believe are caused by malware. Can anyone tell me if I can run a scan using Malwarebytes even though MSE is installed on my computer?

  • gr

yes you can run multiple antivirus or antimalware programs on one pc

  • hans

    Thanks!
