Malwarebytes Now Accepts Bitcoins!

Over the last year, there have been massive amounts of news stories for and against Bitcoin being used as a currency.

Here at Malwarebytes we have been advocates for the principles that lent to its creation. To that end, we are announcing as of TODAY that we are accepting Bitcoin as valid payment for our products!

We hope that by allowing Bitcoin as a payment option for our consumer products, we afford customers the best possible experience, from purchase to download and use.

We will be using the Bitcoin payment platform Coinbase to accept coin payment. We chose Coinbase because of the immense efforts they make toward securing all Bitcoin wallet transactions. Coinbase uses

  • Two-Factor Authentication for account logins
  • Offline storage for actual Bitcoins so the risk of a wallet being snagged by malicious individuals is unlikely
  • SSL encryption for all traffic coming in and out of the site
  • AES-256 encryption for all keys and wallets stored in their vaults
  • An easy to use interface

To purchase one of our product with Bitcoin, simply go to the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Premium page, click on the yellow “Bitcoin Accepted Here” button to the left and under the big robot banner, and you will be redirected to a form requesting your e-mail address.

This e-mail will be used either to connect to your Coinbase account and/or send your confirmation information after you made your purchase, namely the license key you need to register your version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware.

In order to use your Bitcoins, you can log in with your Coinbase account, which can afford you a very secure wallet and high protection for your Bitcoins outside of your own protection model (i.e. storing them on an offline hard drive.)

AcceptCoinbase

If you want full anonymity (i.e. not using Coinbase)  you can use your own personal wallet to send the required funds to the Malwarebytes Coinbase address either by scanning the QR code presented or copying the wallet address and sending it manually.

As of the writing of this post, the current BTC price for Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is 0.03106275 BTC with the exchange rate at $807.81 per 1

BTC.

As with any currency exchange, depending on the value of the Bitcoin at any moment, this price may change but be sure that whenever you decide to use Bitcoins to purchase from Malwarebytes, you will always pay the price as it equates to USD.

We hope that by leading the way as the first major security company to accept Bitcoin in return for our products and services, that we can inspire other companies to take a step out of their comfort zone and seize the future of  online commerce and the security that accompanies it.
